Unlock your hitting potential with the Batting Practice Strike Recognition Trainer. The BPSRT enhances strike zone recognition, helping hitters develop consistent swings at strikes during overhand batting practice. Designed to improve strike zone awareness, it helps players increase swings at strikes resulting in harder hit pitches. Our data from charting hundreds of games of V-Flex trained teams shows that strikes are hit hard almost 20% of the time while balls are hit hard less than 5% of the time. There is a very high correlation for success when a player swings at strikes and not balls outside the zone. Transform your training and elevate your game today!

Improve Your Plate Discipline with the Batting Practice Strike Recognition Trainer
Science Behind the Technology
V-Flex training pieces use contrast colors, shapes and visual indicators to create an energized focal space where strikes pass through. This patented design specifically targets overhand BP training where the brain is being trained to recognize strikes resulting in a swing at the pitch.
Proven Effectiveness
Games charted with high school and collegiate players training with V-Flex show a 12-15% increase in swings at strikes when using this innovative device, making it an invaluable addition to any serious training regimen.
How to Use the Trainer
To maximize effectiveness, position the trainer for overhand BP at approximately 30 feet from home plate and 20 feet away for seated overhand BP:
-
- Instruct the player to swing at any pitch that passes through the partially formed "V" focal space.
-
- Pitch speed should be fast enough that the player is reacting to the pitch instead of thinking about it being a strike or ball. (See pitch speed/reaction chart below)
-
- Reinforce the primary goal: swing at strikes that pass through the partially formed "V" focal space.
Training a hitter to recognize the difference between a ball and a strike requires adhering to some basic principles:
-
- Toss intentional contrast pitches—balls or non-strikes—in random sequences.
-
- Never toss more than three strikes in a row while using V-Flex.
The design of this training device allows the trainer to throw two distinctively different types of "balls":
-
- The first non-strike, or ball, will pass through the circle but not through the V focus area.
- Tracking this pitch helps develop a critical eye movement pattern for recognizing balls that should be instinctively taken.
- The second type of non-strike, or ball, is tossed outside the entire center circle and V focus area.
- This method shortens the track of a non-strike and builds additional contrast patterns between balls and strikes.
- A strike will pass through the "V" focal space, allowing the hitter to track the strike for a longer distance prior to swinging.
- The first non-strike, or ball, will pass through the circle but not through the V focus area.
Customizable Training with Adjustable Height Settings
The BPSRT offers two adjustable height settings for versatile training. Adjust the fiberglass rods depending on your distance from home plate—lower for closer placements and higher for farther distances. This flexibility ensures that the trainer is always positioned correctly, including for seated overhand tosses.
Achieve Significant Improvements in Your Swing
Using the BPSRT is both simple and effective. Follow the guidelines in the User’s Instructions to improve strike recognition and swing consistency. Whether you're working on timing or refining your swing, this trainer helps unlock your strike zone recognition and enhances your game-day performance.

I’ve been using the VFlex System for quite some time and it is by far one of the best way to train any hitter on strike recognition. I’ve noticed huge improvement on strike zone discipline at every level that it’s been used. Too much emphasis today on things like Launch Angle, Spin Rate, Exit Velocity, etc.. When you swing at strikes and minimize chase, you’re gonna become a better hitter. Implicit training is the way to train. The Brain is a powerful tool if we allow it to do its thing.
